16 – E32)                                 “Ivor” the shunter is held at the “Stop” board with the Class 43 before being allowed to proceed to the TMD.  The Regional Railways Class 117 DMU has arrived into platform 5a with a local from Exmouth whilst another Class 08, this time the blue 08623, has scuttled across the station throat and is waiting to remove the Regional Railways Mk.2s of the terminated service in platform 2.  Also terminating, and just visible in platform 1 is the first Thalys service from Amsterdam of the day.

17 – E34)                                 A great view across the western end of the station.  Platforms 1 and 2 host Thalys and TGV units respectively whilst 58001 and 37702 Taff Merthyr with their respective loads of parcels and Tip hook wagons are held in the through roads for 50025 Invincible to depart from platform 4 with this hour’s service to Plymouth.  159001 patiently waits in platform 6b to continue its westbound service to Paignton as 50047 Swiftsure enjoys the attention it is receiving in the TMD.

<>    <>    <>

18 – E37)                                 Threading its way through the point work above the arches from the cross country route and aiming for platform 3 is the Pullman liveried Class 73, 73101 The Royal Alex and the load 6 of chocolate and cream Mk.1s.  This is a Penzance to Birmingham New Street through service.

<>    <>    <>

19 – E38)                                 Hot on the heels of the chocolate and cream Mk.1s is 153303 in Regional Railways colours that arrives with a local service from Paignton terminating in platform 6b

<>    <>    <>

20 – E45)                                 Recently arrived and terminating is the overnight TGV service from Marseille which is emptying its passengers onto platform 2.  Another unidentified Regional Railways Class 117 has arrived from Plymouth into platform 5 whilst a green Class 108 has sneaked into platform 6a from Bristol Temple Meads to where it will return a little bit later this hour.  The international freight service awaits its onward movement in the lower through road.

<>    <>    <>

21 – E46)                                 A colourful mixture of units, a pair of Class 117s in Regional Railways and Blue & Grey, plus an NSE Class 121 Bubble Car, accelerate through the station throat from platform 5 to the Up-Relief and a Salisbury destination as the brace of 50s and 59s and the single 37 continue to refuel.

<>    <>    <>

22 – E51)                                 Whilst the driver of an inbound diagram is held at the Down-Main signal guarding the station throat, he has the opportunity to take a quick snap of a great scene.  Taking the Up Main out of platform 1, the Thalys set departs for Brussels with interim station stops at Reading, Stratford International and Lille as a Classes 59, a 37 and a pair of 50s rest and refuel.  An HST can also be spotted in platform 3.

<>    <>    <>

23 – E52)                                 08600 Ivor the shunter has finally been given the instruction to drag the Class 43 into track 1 of the TMD as NSE bubble car 55031 arrives into platform 6a from Barnstaple.  47581 Great Eastern and its Blue / Greys arrive into platform 5 from Paignton as 50040 Leviathan terminates into platform 1 with an inter-regional express from Glasgow Central and amazingly, an “on time” arrival.  The through Eurostar service from Bordeaux to Plymouth occupies platform 3 whilst 73101 The Royal Alex, and its (almost) matching chocolate and cream set readies itself in platform 3 for departure and a Pembroke Dock destination.

<>    <>    <>

24 – E53)                                 With the HST power car receiving attention, which means that Ivor has been “blocked in,” so has to patiently await the completion of the minor repairs to 43129.  Alongside, an unidentified Class 50 also receives attention as the green Class 31, D5512 is about to go for a shower in the locomotive washer unit.

<>    <>    <>

25 – E56)                                 Virtually a sea of various shades of blue!  An NSE Class 47 with a trailing load of blue / greys sit in platform 6 as Regional Railways Mk.2s occupy platform 5.  A pair of Provincial Class 156s sit in platform 3 with light loco 37429 Eisteddfod Genedlaethol and 150270 in Regional Railways colours make up the balance of “blues”.  “Ruining” the blue scene is the green Class 108 in platform 1a.

<>    <>    <>

26 – E57)                                 Blue Class 08, 08623 has brought a couple of Amoco tanks into the fuel unloading track to replenish the diesel stocks at this depot.  The shunter and staff have to look sharp as his unloading time is limited because the empty tanks need to “catch” the returning empties diagram due to arrive in an hour.

<>    <>    <>

27 – E59)                                 With three locos refuelling their diesel tanks, the shunter is in control of the Amoco tanks which are replenishing the depot’s stocks of fuel.  37429 Eisteddfod Genedlaethol and 50023 Howe rest side by side as (just visible) 50040 Leviathan and 08623 complete this depot scene.

<>    <>    <>

28 – E61)                                 The loco lay-over sidings are very well stocked at this time with a variety of classes awaiting their next diagrams.  From left to right and top to bottom, the roll call is as follows.  A pair of class 20s, D8134 and 20192 are partnered in track 5 as 37429 Eisteddfod Genedlaethol arrives from being refuelled and rests with D1733.  37025 Inverness TMD and 50025 Invincible are in track 3 as 50040 Leviathan also arrives to share track 2 with Class 31, D5512.  59102 Village of Chantry and 59001 Yeoman Endeavour occupy track 1.

<>    <>    <>

29 – E62)                                 With 08600 blocked in, it's down to 08623 to leave the unloading Amoco tanks and remove the now completed Class 43 from the TMD.  Another Class 50 is just finishing a wash ‘n' brush up as the aforementioned pairing roll past.  Another container train in the upper through road led by NSE liveried 33035, and 73109 Battle of Britain 50th. Anniversary hauling the Europe bound International Tiphook / Transfesa service in the lower freight road are both held until a suitable lull in the passenger services allows them to proceed.

<>    <>    <>

30 – E67)                                 Three different classes of DMUs are stabled in the DMU servicing roads.  A green Class 108 is alongside 117306 in Regional Railways colours which is also alongside 158745 belonging to Alphaline / Wales & West, a newly born TOC.
